MARU SERRICCHIO-JOINER

Maru Serricchio-Joiner, PhD, LMFT, ATR-BC is an active clinical art psychotherapist, marital and family therapist, and full time professor at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and growing up in Mexico City, Maru has a diverse background and multi-systemic lens. Dr. Serricchio-Joiner completed her PhD in International Psychology, with a concentration in Organization and Systems, at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where she researched bereavement support in Mexican workplaces. Dr. Serricchio-Joiner is very interested in helping communities and organizations creatively lead and function with intention and awareness, in order to create safe, healthy, and compassionate spaces when faced with grief and loss. Some of Dr. Serricchio-Joiner prior workshops include: Suicide Assessment, Treatment, and Care Through a Creative and Socially Just Lens, Transforming Grief and Loss Creatively, Creative Ways to Transform and Discuss Social Justice and Liberation, Exploring Self-Love for Cancer Survivors, Transforming Loss and Grief for those with Stage 4 Cancer, to name a few. Dr. Serricchio-Joiner has been teaching in graduate and doctorate level for over 10 years and has been in clinical practice for 15 years, working primarily with couple and families that have experienced tragic and recent loss.
